Storybook favorites
1. The first storybook that I really enjoyed was the
Epic Women Tell All. I love the
Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise and the way that they spun this story to include
it was really creative. It’s a story about three women: Kaikeyi, Sita, and
Amba. I like that they took the stories of these women and what happened to
them and created a strong, independent storyline for them. At one point during
Sita’s story she expressed “I want my legacy to be one of education, beauty,
and love. I want to be known for the work I’ve done, not the man I married”,
and that was powerful to me. I liked that the design of the page was nice and
had everything displayed in locations that were easy to find.
2.
The second storybook that caught my eye was The Fairy Godmother Union Strike. I think that most people are familiar with the
old fairy godmother story so I think the title is pretty self-explanatory. I
enjoyed this story because you can see another side of the fairy godmothers
that you normally don’t see. The King learned to appreciate what all the fairy
godmothers actually did.
3.
The last storybook I chose was Legendary Heroines: The Diary Accounts of Four Courageous Women. I think this was my
favorite out of all of them. The overall design of the front page and the
different parts of the story like the introductions, the stories of Joan of
Arc, Cleopatra, Zenobia and Lady Godiva was nice and easy to follow. I also
like the photos that were chosen and included with the story. I also liked the “Dear
Diary” format that the author followed. The only person that I hadn’t heard of
before was Zenobia. I agree with the author’s note that it would be very hard
for me to deal with the murder of my entire family as well. She was a very
courageous woman.
