The Growth Mindset
I actually have never heard of the Carol Dweck and the Growth Mindset before. In the first video I liked where she talked about "Not Yet". Hearing not yet is so much more encouraging then hearing no, or that you failed at something. I've always thought that what is meant to be, will be. I like to think that these two correlate with each other because if something doesn't happen like you hoped that it would, you could give up or you could say "well it's not my time, yet".
I found this picture posted on Growth Mindset & Feedback Cats. It reminded me of something that my math professor said this week. He was explaining why he doesn't take any work that is turned in with pen. He said that "pencils have erasers, and the ability to erase things came the ability to make mistakes. Mistakes mean that we are learning, and that's the important part". It is so true! It's okay to make mistakes because we can only grow from there!
I think that for most of us it is hard to remember that mistakes are okay. I am very hard on myself at times but during this last semester I am going to try to remind myself that mistakes are apart of learning & growing. While I look for jobs after graduation, I'll try to remember Carol and "Not yet" so that I won't feel discouraged in the hard job market.
